A brandnew project, HEPCATS uses the word hep instead of hip, referring back to 'the old days' when it was hep to be hip indeed - and when a piano trio consisted of piano, double bass, and - guitar!

The guitar provided the swingtrio with a lighter sound, a steady pulse, and on occasion an extra melodic solo voice, thus bringing an entirely different texture to the trio concept.

And although this setting is definitely not old school only, with Hepcats, we love to revisit old swingtime standards - the tunes no one plays but actually everyone likes... Just A-Sittin' And A-Rockin', Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Moonglow, The Jitterbug Waltz, 'Deed I Do, Back Home Again In Indiana, Easy Street... All arrangements are written especially for this group by Arne. As an extra attraction, Hepcats adds Kim Versteynen to handle some vocals... You can listen to the highlighted tracks on Soundcloud, and order it via e-mail.

Our debut album Easy Street was recorded on July 31 and August 1 2012, and was released on November 4 in the Hasselt Jenevermuseum. Read here what the press had to say about the releaseconcert - and stay tuned for concerts...
